How to Wear White After Labor Day

September 9, 2016

jmoore05_06

I have always been of the opinion that rules are meant to be broken. Call me a rebel, but I’m going rogue on this no white after Labor Day rule. Seriously, the fact that a day on the calendar dictates when you can and can’t wear a certain color is ridiculous. This is a free country isn’t it?! I am here to liberate you from these antiquated and silly rules. Here’s my tips on how to make this work:

DO go for white pieces that have a bit more structure and/or weight. Not all white after labor day is created equal. This blazer is structured and actually provides a great contrast to darker, more jewel-toned fall clothing.

DON’T wear your lightweight sundresses past September. First of all, they just scream summer and summer is, well, basically over, and second, they’re just not warm enough for the cooler weather. You can get away with wearing them with booties and a cardigan for the next couple weeks, but pack them away till next spring come October 1.

DO go ahead and wear your white shoes, because…why not? Here in Southern California, I can get away with wearing these sandals for a while longer, but white pumps work great for the colder months as well.

So there you have it…break all the rules and wear white after Labor Day, you have my permission! 😉

On another note, I am SO excited about my new Daniel Wellington watch! I have wanted one for so long, and I finally got one…they’re just so classic and simple, you can’t go wrong with one. This particular model is called “Classy,” and I love it because it has little Swarvoski crystals instead of numbers. Check out their site and if you fall in love like I did, use my code MISSMOORE to get 15% off your order!
