Casual and Edgy Spring Look

Casual and Edgy Spring Look

Let’s face it: my style is not the edgiest out there. I tend to gravitate towards pink, lace, and ruffles. I honestly see nothing wrong with that, but sometimes I like to branch out and try new styles. I’ve been wanting to edge up my style a bit lately, so I decided to try my hand at being “edgy.” After some consideration, I’m thinking this outfit says “chic pirate,” am I right?!

The thing is, just because you want to dress casually doesn’t mean you have to just settle for a t-shirt and jeans. I consciously try to fill my wardrobe with pieces that are versatile and can be dressed up or down, but also have some element of uniqueness. For instance, this isn’t just a plain striped top, it has cold shoulders, which is arguably one of the biggest trends this year. Additionally, this distressed, grommet embellished denim skirt has much more edge than your run of the mill skirt. And these sandals? If you’re not swooning over these Miu Miu wannabes, then you must be crazy. Seriously, it is shoes like this that support my view that no person should ever need to wear flip-flops in public. Unless you are headed to the pool, the beach, or the gym shower, for the love of all things holy, do not wear flip-flops, especially when there are much more chic and equally convenient and comfortable options out there. Ok, end rant on flip-flops. However, I think my favorite part of this casual-yet-not-boring outfit is this denim jacket. I was recently gifted this at a Boohoo festival gifting suite where they were customizing denim jackets. Obviously, I had to go with having “Miss Moore Style” tagged on the back of it. I plan on adding tons of patches and pins to this if and when I can manage to find time to sew them on in the middle of this hellacious spring quarter at UCLA. Say a little prayer for me, will ya?
