My Bridesmaid Proposal + How to DIY Yours!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Ok, so I’m not going to lie, I’m completely dropping the ball on my wedding planning thus far…it is SO much harder than I thought it would be, especially because I am kind of the most picky person ever! However, I did manage to finally pull of my bridesmaid proposal, so I thought I would share this with you in case you too are looking for a fun and thoughtful way to ask your girls to stand by your side on your big day! I’m also going to start a new series, called Wedding Wednesday, obviously, to share with you things I’m learning throughout my journey of wedding planning and all the lessons I’m sure to learn along the way. Since we are on the topic, I found this awesome article from WeddingWire that talks all about everything you need to know if you recently got asked to be a maid of honor! It’s a huge responsibility, but also a huge honor, so this article is great at letting you know all the ins and outs of your responsibilities!

First of all, let’s get down to the DIY of this bridesmaid proposal. Of course, there are tons of people on Etsy and elsewhere where you can purchase a bridesmaid proposal box of sorts, but I wanted to get crafy, and crafty I was! The first thing I did was snag some wooden crates. These just so happen to be Bookers bourbon packaging, but I had a ton of them at my disposal so I put them to good use.

I used Martha Stuart Crafts Vintage Decor Paint in the color “Wedding Cake” (so appropriate, right?!) to paint these once dark wooden boxes a pretty white. Next, I grabbed some Martha Stuart Crafts stencils to get the girls names perfect, as well as some pretty floral stencils to embellish the boxes and give them that something extra. I found some pink and gold stuffing to fill the boxes with, and now the fun part begins! Honestly, you can put whatever you want in your bridesmaid proposal box; the more personal you make it, the better it will be. I decided to put a little packet of Kleenex in the

Honestly, you can put whatever you want in your bridesmaid proposal box; the more personal you make it, the better it will be. I decided to put a little packet of Kleenex in the box, because I knew there would be tears, and a ring pop because its just a fun touch…and who doesn’t love ring pops?! I definitely wanted to put in some color swatches of what I’m thinking to do for the wedding, just to give the girls an idea of the colors they might be wearing. Originally, I went to the hardware store and grabbed paint swatches, which is a really easy and great option, however, I stumbled upon the Weddington Way store recently, and they so nicely have tons of fabric samples for you to take, so I included those because I’m really digging their bridesmaid dresses!

I definitely wanted to include a bottle of bubbly to toast the occasion, and what better way to do that than these gorgeous, blinged-out bubbly splits from One Hope? Pretty bottles aside, One Hope is an amazine wine company because they do so much good in the world, like helping people get clean drinking water, plant trees, feed the hungry, among so many other amazing causes! Last but not least, I had to get my girls something amazing, so I designed watches for each and every one of them on Wristology.com. I love that I could create watches for my girls that were as unique as they are!

I wish I could’ve proposed to all my bridesmaids at the same time, but unfortunately, such a feat would be nearly impossible as three of them (my sisters) live back east, and my other four are all busy with work and babies! I asked my sisters first, since I thankfully had the opportunity to do so when they all came out last June to visit me. We went to dinner at Malibu Farm, one of my favorite restaurants in LA, and I surprised them with this proposal over the most delicious froze´!

They all said yes! Love my sisters!

Next, I had to ask my best girlfriends. Let me just say, trying to pick which girlfriends are going to be your bridesmaids is so tough. I literally wish I could have 20 bridesmaids, but my fiance´is giving me a hard no at seven. After picking the last four, the real challenge was to get them all in the same place at the same time. I asked all of them over to the pool last Sunday, and made it seem like it was just going to be a low-key pool hang with no one else there. I got a little crazy and decorated the pool a little bit and made a fun little brunchy-Sunday Funday-pool- party with my girls and popped the question. There were tears, and there as also froze´, although this time it was my homemade froze´….stay tuned for that recipe soon!

There were tears, laughs, and plenty of sun, and I really could not ask for a better group of women to stand beside me next year. I’m surrounded by so much love and support that I know however crazy the road gets, I’ve got seven amazing ladies right by my side!
