Miss Moore Style: The Story Behind My Blog Name

It has come to my attention that I have never actually told you all about the reason behind my blog name, Miss Moore Style, and why I even started

this little blog. I really want to start getting a little more personal on here, so I think we can consider this a step in that direction. I realized that perhaps y’all were assuming that my blog name just stemmed from my own name, and if you did, you get a couple points for being partially correct, however, there’s a bit more to it than that.

Let’s start with the surface level: Obviously, my last name is Moore (I chose not to change my last name, you can read all my reasons for that here) and you know your girl loves style. I definitely live for finding amazing style without spending a ton of money and I believe that over the years I have developed a talent for finding pieces that are inexpensive but are on trend and look high end. On one level, my blog name Miss Moore Style is kind of a double entendre, because I love helping all of you find incredible pieces to add to your wardrobe that won’t break the bank….get it? Don’t make me spell it out for y’all….You get MOORE style for your money?

Ever since I could remember, I have poured over the pages of Vogue and InStyle, admiring all the beautiful designer pieces, but wishing there was a place for people who love high fashion but need an affordable option. I truly hope my blog is a little corner of the internet where people like me who have, shall we say, a taste for Chanel on a Topshop budget, can find awesome pieces that they can afford that also make them feel confident and beautiful.

But more than that, the true inspiration behind Miss Moore Style goes to my grandmother, my nana, Mrs. Moore. From the time I could barely walk, we had already established an incredible bond. She was a southern belle, she carried herself with such grace and was so kind to everyone around her that she befriended anyone she met. My nana was someone I looked up to for so long in my life. She was always dressed impeccably and loved fashion, something she definitely passed on to me. Because she was the fashion coordinator of the Nashville area Dillard’s stores, she was always coordinating fashion shows for people young and old. Some of my favorite childhood memories were going to the stores with her and helping her fit models for the shows and put together outfits.

Unfortunately, my nana is no longer with us, cancer took her way too soon. I don’t want this to be a sad story, because she wouldn’t want that and I know she’s never really gone. I wish she was here to see my blog, to see what I have created, because I know she’d be my greatest cheerleader. I hope that I make her proud and I hope that she knows that what I do is in her honor. I would absolutely not be the woman I am today if not for her. Thank you nana for being such an inspiration to me and for inspiring this blog that started as my passion project and became a career. Wherever you are, I hope Miss Moore Style makes you proud!

Here is an actual pic of me walking in one of the many fashion shows I participated in at Dillard’s when I was a kid, with my nana of course MC’ing the event:
