First off, I want to say that this post was SUPPOSED to be all about drawing fashion inspiration from Minnie Mouse. No one does polka dots better than Minnie, so when my photographer suggested we go shoot at Alfred’s Coffee in Studio City, I got really excited because they had the cutest Minnie Mouse mural outside their shop. I instagrammed it just a couple weeks ago:

Imagine my dismay when I arrived at Alfred, and the mural was painted over by some Bumble advertisement! Like, how cute would it have been if I could’ve shot this look in front of this wall?! If there’s anything you learn living in Los Angeles, it is that the show must go on, and that cool street art has a short shelf life. I was disappointed, but hey, this yellow is so poppy so I can’t be that mad.

Ok, enough about my blogger struggles, and onto this outfit. I saw this dress recently at Shein, and it immediately made me think of some uber chic Italian woman. Are you getting that vibe too? Ok good. (Also, I should mention it is less than $20…hello, that’s a total steal!) Polka dots are such a classic print that will never go out of style. It’s the perfect pattern for when you want to look classic and sophisticated but also adds an element of playfulness. Also, because they’re so classic, they play really well with other prints and fun colors. Print mixing has been a huge trend lately, and polka dots are probably the easiest pattern to throw in with something a little busier. I didn’t opt for adding in another print, but to keep things fun, I grabbed this graphic clutch and bright yellow heels. I am also loving the fact that this dress features flare sleeves because any kind of statement sleeve is huge this year. I would totally wear this look to a fancy brunch or a bridal shower…I don’t know about you, but I’m at that age where there’s a lot of those in my future!
