Don’t get me wrong, I am all about wearing trendy, outlandish clothing, but sometimes it is nice to go back to the basics. My grandmother used to always preach the importance of buying classic over trendy clothing. “Classics never go out of style,” she would always tell me. At the time all I wanted was acid washed, hip hugger bellbottoms and those shirts that looked like doll shirts but could actually stretch to fit any size person, so I didn’t really appreciate her advice. Its only been in recent years that I have really started to agree with her. Yes, I still love statement necklaces, print mixing, pallazo pants, wedge sneakers, and all those fun here now-gone tomorrow pieces, but sometimes you gotta take a step back from all that and return to your staples. A striped tee, trench coat, and dark wash jeans will never steer you wrong. Putting together the “perfect outfit” can sometimes become mind boggling when you are constantly trying to do something new and one up yourself from the day before. That is where classic wardrobe staples come into play, for those days when you just want to throw something on and look effortless. So here’s to you, Nana, and your always sound advice!
Happy Friday and thanks for reading! xo
