First of all, can we just talk for a second about how awesome the pickup truck is in these pictures? Seriously, I kinda want it. It was a really nice coincidence that this gem was parked on my friend Wendy’s street the other day as it coordinated so well with my outfit. The truck as well as this ensemble I picked out was definitely giving me a retro vibe.

I also just want to talk about these palazzo pants for one second. Up until I purchased these this past week, I stayed far, far away from these super wide leg type trousers that have been floating around the fashion scene for the last few years. I think I was just intimidated by them because I’d never worn anything like them before. But the other day while in Forever 21 to exchange a dress that was not the greatest online shopping purchase, I saw this pair and decided to just try them on and see what they would look like. Much to my surprise, I absolutely loved them. What shocked me even more was that they got the boyfriend stamp of approval. (Usually anything that is not a blue jean gets called “ugly pants.” Its ok, he’s just a traditionalist 😉 )

The moral of this story is, try something new and outside of your comfort zone every once in a while. Yeah, maybe at first glance it doesn’t seem like “you.” But if you never try anything different, you could miss out on the opportunity to find something new to love.

Have a great day and thanks so much for reading! xo

Well I think its pretty obvious by now that camo is back in a big way. It should be noted however, that the army variety is the only one that is considered “chic” at this point. Wearing a wedding dress of the hunting variety of camo on the other hand, is not so cool. *cough, cough* Honey Boo Boo *cough* Leave that kind for the cast of Duck Dynasty, they are the only ones who can pull that look off.

Thanks for reading and have a great Sunday Afternoon! xo

In case you are not a total nerd and Harry Potter fan like I am, a time turner is this really awesome magical device that Dumbledore gives Hermoine in the third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, to give Hermoine the time she needs to take all the classes that she decided to take that year. Hermoine, being the over achiever that she is, took on waaaay too many classes that she physically couldn’t make it to all of them, so she uses the time turner to turn back time. In case you didn’t notice, I am wearing a replica of this time turner. I know. Nerd alert! These days, I feel a little bit like Hermoine. I remember when I was a kid, my mom used to complain to me that “there just aren’t enough hours in the day,” and my younger self would think, “Mom, you are crazy, time is dragging, there’s still 146 days and 12 hours till summer break!” Now I can understand how she feels. With work, this new blog, planning Thanksgiving dinner for about 8 people, auditions, and all the crap I have due right now for school, I’m feeling a weeeee bit busy. A great sweater or jacket thrown over a tank with skinnies is my go to in times like this. You can still look cute even when you don’t have time to think about looking cute.

Don’t mind my Chicago reference, that song has only been in my head for the last 24 hours. I attended a friend’s film premiere at the American Film Market fest, and thought I’d glam it up a bit. I’m pretty sure my mom had almost an identical top to this in the 80’s, but she got rid of it before I could stop her. Lucky for me, I came across a similar one here at Wasteland. I will definitely be mixing this piece into my holiday party wardrobe for sure.

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday evening, thanks for reading! xo

What’s so funny you ask? Probably that I thought wearing this sweater dress and vest on a very warm Los Angeles day was a good idea. Regardless of our very erratic weather here in LA, I highly recommend adding a sweater dress to your wardrobe. They’re so easy to throw on and super comfy and cozy. Though I will admit, maybe a bit too cozy for 80 degree weather. I think I may be in denial about the fact that it still feels like summer even though its November. Whoops!

Mixing prints is an ongoing fashion trend that I have loved but have been a little tentative to try. You either get it right or you get it so wrong. One easy thing to keep in mind if you do want to give print mixing a shot is to keep everything in the same color family, or at least go with complimentary colors. I thought I’d ease into it with a black and white sweater and some houndstooth, and just to spice things up a bit, I threw in little punches of pink.

Special thanks to my friend Sarah Hester for helping with my pics today! xo

Old Hollywood Glam

If it were socially acceptable, I would probably wear an evening gown whenever humanly possible. Getting dressed up and going out is one thing I love to do, so when I got an invite to a friend’s birthday party with a cocktail dress code you best believe I went all out. I decided to have a little fun with it and do a sort of old Hollywood glam feel, which worked out really well because the party was at a really cool, older house up in the Hollywood Hills in the Beachwood area.

I’ve never been much of a sweats kind of person. I kind of cringe inside when I see people wear them in public. I’ve had a couple different cutesy hoodies here and there, but I usually only wear them to the gym. This group of sweatshirts is kinda changing my mind though. They’re all super cute and fun looking, but still comfy and effortless. Any one of these would go perfectly thrown on with some boyfriend jeans or leggings for a weekend morning trip to the farmer’s market, or paired with a sleek skirt and heels for a night out. Ladies and gentlemen, I think am on my way to not being a sweats hater and it feels good!
Thanks for reading and have a fantastic, sweats wearing weekend! 😉

Dress: Free People/ Jacket: Forever 21, similar/ boots: Freebird by Steven/Bag: Dooney and Bourke, vintage/ Watch: Michael Kors

Nobody gets more excited for fall than I do. Chilly air, crunchy leaves, pumpkins, cloudy days, what’s not to love? Here in LA, we don’t get fall till a bit later, and usually only in little fits punctuated by heat waves, so when we do get a truly fall-ish day, I soak it up. Yesterday was like that. I stayed in almost all day, read, drank coffee, and enjoyed the gloom. I also get really excited to break out my boots, tights, and coats, which clearly I did all three here.

This dress and these boots are two recent finds that I’m a bit obsessed over and can’t quite get enough of. You’ve been warned. 😉
