One Outfit, Two Summer Wardrobe Staples

Version 2

Every summer, there is one trend that can’t be missed.  Whether or not you’ve fallen prey to these trends, (hello Birkenstock sandals) it is arguably pretty fun to adopt a new look come the beginning of summer.

In case you’ve been living under a sartorial rock, white off the shoulder tops and cropped flares have been all the rage lately. I was first hesitant about the cropped flares trend…after all, I definitely always got called out when my flares got little too short for me due to a growth spurt. While I am absolutely LOVING these cropped flares, I cant help but think back to the time when I was mortified to leave the house with anything less than floor-skimming denim hems. Times definitely have a way of changing, don’t they?

White off the shoulder tops (or any off the shoulder tops for that matter) are probably my favorite trend this summer. They add a touch of femininity to any outfit and can even make cut off jeans seem dressier somehow.  They’re also incredibly versatile as this top would look just as great with a dressy skirt as it does with jeans.

I know I said there were two summer trends in this post, but I am going to go out on a limb here and say that there is a third one that should be discussed. Lately I’ve been noticing sandals embellished with pom poms, tassels, and other bright trims and have wanted a pair, but refused to pay the high prices for these shoes. As fun as they are, I wouldn’t be surprised if they quickly went out of style after the end of this summer. The solution? Get crafty and DIY your own! This pair was made from an old pair of Forever 21 slides and they were super easy to make. Stay tuned because I will soon be sharing how I made these!

This look is absolutely adoarable. I love the off shoulder top and the cut off jeans are perfect for it. I also love the high-waisted denim, which is perfect for these cropped tops. And how cute are your sandals? Love them!

I’m also loving the off the shoulder trend, specially in white! It’s so crisp and feminine. I’m hesitant to try cropped flares, because I worry they’ll make me look a little stumpy, but you’ve inspired me to at least try some on next time I’m shopping 😀 Your styling is perfection too – I’m loving that clutch and your jewellery!

Lovely post and beautiful look! I finally made the switch back to flares but in a long version so far. I’m pretty short so I’m still on the fence about the cropped ones but they look so fun!
