I often feel like I can chalk up a lot of things in my life to “Murphy’s Law,” which states that anything that can on wrong will go wrong. I had the full intention of shooting an awesome 4th of July look this afternoon and gave absolutely no thought to whether or not I would have good weather for this because I live in Southern California…we virtually have nothing but sun all year long. This is especially true these days because of the horrible drought we are reminded of everyday via all possible means of communication. So, I would think I would’ve been correct in assuming I was to have a bright, sunny afternoon to shoot. Think again! It started raining just as we went outside to snap these pictures.
Weather discussions aside, its that time of year where everyone gets really patriotic and wears their best red, white, and blue. I have had this dress for years, and it has been one of my go-to options for 4th of July parties. For me, staying cool and comfortable in the mid-summer heat is as important as looking cute, and this dress accomplishes both of those goals. I am also a sucker for anything with a retro feel to it. I feel as though the styles of dresses women wore back in the 40’s and 50’s are really flattering on all body types, and they look classic. Add a little pin curl, winged eyeliner, and a red lip, and you are ready to celebrate the 4th in style!
Thanks for reading, have a great afternoon! xo
